Meta-aramid

Meta-aramid registered trademark for flame-resistant aromatic compound nylon fabric developed by DuPont in the USA. Its chemical structure is poly meta phenylene isophthalamide, which has similar sealing strength and elasticity as other organic fiber textile, and also has superior heat-resistant quality to nylon and therefore mostly used as industrial materials.
Poly phenylene isophthalamide is a heat-resistant fiber type and was developed by DuPont USA and first marketed in 1967. Meta-aramid is produced by condensation reaction from the monomers m-phenylenediamine and isophthalic chloride. Though it was initially developed for the purpose of space programs such as space clothing and other protective outfits, it has been used in consumer products areas as well such as pajama, curtains, work outfits, interior decoration textiles, carpet due to the fire proof property. Pigment dyeing, which mixes pigment and binder, has broadened its usage more widely.
